Job summary

Southern Power Systems in Baton Rouge, LA seeks an Electrical Estimator to perform complex bid estimating across multiple projects. You will manage full bid life cycle, from invitation to submittal, coordinate with managers and vendors, and prepare detailed cost packages.

Ideal candidate has a BS in construction management, engineering or related field and 4+ years electrical utility/industrial estimating; must excel in MS Excel, Word, and project scheduling tools; willingness to travel to

Qualifications

BS degree in construction management, engineering, business or technical field; four-year college degree preferred.
Prefer 4+ years of experience in electrical-related Utility/Industrial estimating.
Ability to interpret project drawings and perform quantity takeoffs to prepare labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
Experience reading bid packages, vendor outreach, and cost risk analysis.

Responsibilities

Perform a variety of highly complex estimating activities.
Read and interpret project scope and drawings for accuracy.
Coordinate estimating activities with Managers and Project Leaders to complete estimates and proposals.
Prepare proposal packages and contact vendors/subcontractors for quotations.
Travel to project sites as needed.
Maintain knowledge of safety policies and perform duties safely.
