Position Overview
We are seeking two experienced Senior Electrical Estimators to support a growing portfolio of large-scale construction projects, primarily focused on data center development, with additional projects across the chemical, petrochemical, oil and gas, and heavy industrial sectors.
Projects range from approximately $150 million to $1 billion, offering the opportunity to contribute to complex electrical construction scopes within major Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects.
The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on electrical estimating experience, including quantity takeoffs, labor and material costing, equipment pricing, and bid preparation. We're looking for someone who can independently develop detailed electrical estimates, rather than someone whose experience is primarily managing or reviewing estimates prepared by others.
Prior data center experience is preferred but not required. Candidates with strong electrical estimating backgrounds in commercial electrical contracting, industrial construction, or EPC environments are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently prepare detailed electrical construction estimates for large-scale projects ranging from approximately $150 million to $1 billion.
- Review electrical drawings, specifications, bid packages, and construction documents to identify project requirements and develop accurate estimates.
- Perform detailed electrical quantity takeoffs, including materials, equipment, labor, and subcontracted work.
- Develop cost estimates for electrical construction scopes, including:
- Transformers and switchgear
- Conduit and raceway systems
- Electrical cabling and wiring
- Electrical equipment installation
- Instrumentation and controls, as applicable
- Calculate labor hours, material quantities, equipment costs, and subcontractor pricing to determine overall electrical construction costs.
- Evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations for accuracy, completeness, and competitiveness.
- Analyze labor productivity, installation methods, material pricing, and project-specific cost considerations.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, project management, and construction teams throughout the estimating and bidding process.
- Identify potential scope gaps, risks, and cost-saving opportunities during estimate development.
- Participate in pre-bid meetings, estimate reviews, and occasional site visits.
- Prepare detailed bid documentation, cost breakdowns, and final proposal packages.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data to support future bids.
Required Qualifications
- Significant hands-on electrical construction estimating experience within commercial electrical contracting, industrial construction, or EPC environments.
- Experience developing electrical estimates for large-scale, complex construction projects, ideally within the $150 million to $1 billion project range.
- Demonstrated ability to independently prepare electrical estimates from initial quantity takeoffs through final bid preparation.
- Strong knowledge of electrical construction materials, installation methods, labor requirements, and equipment costs.
- Experience estimating electrical power distribution systems, transformers, switchgear, conduit, cabling, and electrical equipment installation.
- Ability to read, interpret, and analyze electrical drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
- Experience calculating material quantities, labor hours, equipment costs, and subcontractor pricing.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple estimating priorities and meet bid deadlines.
- Ability to work onsite in Channelview, TX, five days per week.
