Job summary

FMS Aerospace in Huntsville is seeking an Electrical Engineering Technician to join the production team and build assemblies within established timeframes, documenting specifications, and ensuring quality standards.

The role requires avionics and electrical systems interest, keen attention to detail, willingness to learn, and teamwork across shop staff and engineers. On-site responsibilities include installation support for military and commercial customers.

Qualifications

• Requires 2–4 years in avionics or electrical wiring systems.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• IPC-620 certification required.
• Experience reading electrical drawings.
• Experience in production/manufacturing setting.

Responsibilities

• Manufacture and assemble cables and wire harnesses.
• Test and function-check completed assemblies.
• Document components progress and travelers in the shop.
• Regularly use soldering iron, wire cutters/strippers/crimpers, screwdrivers, hand drills, DMM, and Windows PC.
• Discuss design challenges with management and teammates.
• Collaborate with Electrical and Design Engineers and PMs to troubleshoot and implement electrical systems.
• Provide offsite and onsite assistance and installation of electrical systems.
• Mentor by avionics and electrical technicians and junior engineers.
• Occasionally travel to hangars, bases, and customer sites for system integration and support.

Job description

FMS Aerospace is currently seeking a full-time Electrical Engineering Technician for our Huntsville office location. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our production team and will be responsible for building assemblies within established timeframes and documenting specifications, ensuring that all work and components meet rigorous quality standards. The candidate shall be expected to display keen attention to detail, a willingness to learn, and support others in the shop throughout the company, both technically and as teammates. This position requires someone interested in avionics and electrical systems for various aircraft.

Responsibilities

• Manufacturing and assembling cables and wire harnesses
• Testing and function-checking completed assemblies
• Filling out travelers and documenting components progress through the shop
• Regular use of the following tools: soldering iron, wire cutter/stripper/crimper, screwdriver, hand drill, Windows PC, digital multi-meter, etc.
• Communicate, discuss, and listen to design challenges with management and teammates, etc.
• Will work with a team of Electrical and Design Engineers and PMs to troubleshoot, design, and implement electrical systems supporting various military and commercial customers
• Provide offsite & onsite assistance and installation of electrical systems
• Mentored by avionics and electrical engineering technicians and junior level electrical engineers within the company
• Occasionally be asked to travel to hangars, bases, customer sites to facilitate successful system integration of mechanical and electrical and provide assistance as needed to Project Managers at onsite locations

Required Qualifications

• 2-4 years’ experience in avionics and/or electrical wiring systems
• Minimum of a high school diploma/GED
• IPC-620 certification is a must
• Experience reading electrical drawings
• Experience in a production/manufacturing setting
