Electrical Engineering Manager – Data Centers
Position Overview
The Electrical Engineering Manager will lead the design, delivery and technical oversight of electrical infrastructure supporting hyperscale and mission-critical data center campuses.
The role will work across development, design, construction, commissioning and operations to ensure electrical systems are delivered safely, reliably, on schedule and in accordance with company design standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead electrical engineering across new-build and expansion data center projects.
- Review and approve electrical designs, specifications, Basis of Design and construction documentation.
- Provide technical leadership across:
- Utility service and substations
- MV and LV distribution
- Transformers
- Switchgear and switchboards
- UPS systems
- Generators
- ATS/STS systems
- PDUs and RPPs
- Busway
- Grounding and bonding
- Protection and controls
- EPMS / SCADA
- Coordinate utility, consultant, contractor, OEM and internal engineering teams.
- Support equipment selection and long-lead procurement strategies.
- Conduct design reviews, constructability reviews and value engineering.
- Resolve technical issues arising during construction.
- Support energization, integrated systems testing and commissioning.
- Review electrical QA/QC and equipment testing.
- Develop and maintain electrical design standards.
- Support capacity planning and infrastructure upgrades within live environments.
- Identify reliability, schedule and operational risks and develop mitigation plans.
- Provide technical updates to senior leadership.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience.
- Strong data center, mission-critical or large industrial project experience.
- Experience with medium-voltage and low-voltage electrical distribution.
- Understanding of redundancy strategies including N, N+1 and 2N.
- Experience supporting design, construction and commissioning.
- Strong knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical standards.
- Experience managing engineering consultants, contractors and OEMs.
