Job summary

S&S Worldwide, Inc is seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead the engineering team responsible for controls and electrical systems on major amusement rides. The role requires technical direction, project planning, and coordination with project managers and customers.

You will oversee budgeting, scheduling, and design reviews, ensure compliance with UL508A and industry standards, and travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, controls engineering preferred.
  • 10+ years' experience with PLCs, motion control, sensors, actuators, and HMI.
  • Experience with project scheduling using MS Project or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Define scope for electrical and control systems on new projects.
  • Schedule tasks and adjust priorities to meet the master schedule.
  • Assist with budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling for the electrical team.
  • Develop and supervise electrical system design, including specs, safety docs, IO lists, schematics, cabling, assembly, FATs, and installation.
  • Review and approve designs through ECO process.
  • Maintain UL508A panel shop conformance to codes and best practices.

Job Summary

The Electrical Engineering Manager provides technical direction and team resource planning for the development and programming of controls and electrical systems for major amusement rides and roller coasters.

Responsibilities
  • Works with project managers and Engineering Director to define electrical and control system work scope for new projects
  • Schedules team tasks and adjusts priority(s) as needed to conform to master engineering schedule.
  • Assists the Engineering Director with budgeting, resource planning, and scheduling for the Electrical design and engineering team
  • Facilitates development and construction of new project electrical systems, including: functional specifications, ride safety evaluation and documentation, IO lists, schematics, hardware design and layout, conduits and cabling requirements, assembly, factor checklists, factory acceptance tests, and installation supervision
  • Reviews and approves all team design and engineering work through ECO process
  • Maintains UL508A panel shop through concurrent conformance to codes, standards, and best practices

Requirements
  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering and or controls programming from an accredited institution
  • 10+ years' experience with PLCs, motion control systems, sensor and actuator technologies, and user interfaces and implementation criteria
  • Ability to create and manage schedules in MS Project or equivalent planning tool
  • Proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively with engineering team members and customers
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally occasionally as required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Design experience in multiple-disciplinary projects, coordinating with mechanical, structural, and electrical engineering processes
  • Solid computer skills, including SolidWorks or similar CAD system(s)
  • Experience with international amusement ride design standards
  • Demonstrated success in team leadership and managing other engineering professionals
  • Proven creative ability, solid work ethic, and strong attention to detail
