Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience in related environments.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven leadership experience directing teams.
  • Hands-on design experience with: Low Voltage Switchboards (UL 891).
  • Industrial Control Panels (UL 508A).
  • Medium Voltage Switchgear.
  • Load calculations and production-ready drawing packages.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, UL certification requirements.
  • Advanced proficiency with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel occasionally.

We are seeking an Electrical Engineering Manager to lead our electrical design team and drive the successful execution of custom power distribution and control equipment projects. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to shape engineering standards, mentor a talented team of engineers and designers, and play a critical role in delivering innovative, high-quality solutions that meet the demanding needs of our customers. You'll partner closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, and Project Management to ensure seamless project execution from concept through production while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance.

What You'll Do Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a dedicated team of Electrical Engineers and Designers.
  • Conduct regular one‑on‑one meetings, performance reviews, and professional development discussions.
  • Foster a culture of technical excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Provide actionable feedback and clear technical guidance to support team success.
Project & Customer Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer relationships related to engineering deliverables and project timelines.
  • Manage engineering priorities, workload distribution, and resource planning to ensure successful project execution.
  • Allocate projects based on team expertise, capacity, and production schedules to eliminate assembly bottlenecks and maintain project visibility.
  • Proactively identify and communicate project risks before they impact production or delivery schedules.
Technical Leadership & Quality Assurance
  • Serve as the primary technical reviewer for all electrical engineering deliverables, including:
    • Schematics
    • Single-line diagrams
    • Panel schedules
    • Wiring diagrams
    • Load calculations
    • Short‑Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) analyses
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Oversee the electrical peer review process and ensure all designs are thoroughly checked, approved, and released in a fully production‑ready state.
  • Provide decisive technical direction regarding design modifications, improvements, and compliance requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting and resolution of design‑related challenges throughout the manufacturing process.
Compliance & Standards
  • Ensure all electrical designs comply with:
    • UL 508A
    • UL 891
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • NFPA 70E standards
  • Support documentation and testing requirements necessary to maintain UL certifications and pass third‑party inspections.
  • Establish and uphold company electrical design standards including wiring methodologies, drawing conventions, and BOM structures.
  • Ensure data integrity and revision control within PDM and ERP systems.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
  • Partner closely with Manufacturing, Procurement, Project Management, and Manufacturing Engineering to ensure seamless design‑to‑production transitions.
  • Work directly with shop floor personnel to resolve design questions and support production activities.
  • Analyze recurring issues and implement root‑cause solutions to improve drawing quality, component selection, value engineering, and build efficiency.
  • Champion lean thinking and continuous improvement initiatives throughout engineering processes and workflows.
What We're Looking For
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 5 years of electrical design experience, preferably within power distribution center (PDC) manufacturing, custom electrical equipment, or modular industrial equipment environments.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of proven leadership experience in a supervisory, lead engineer, or engineering management role directing teams of electrical engineers and designers.
  • Hands‑on design experience with:
    • Low Voltage Switchboards (UL 891)
    • Industrial Control Panels (UL 508A)
    • Medium Voltage Switchgear
  • Proven experience performing load calculations and developing detailed, production‑ready drawing packages.
  • Strong working knowledge of:
    • National Electrical Code (NEC)
    • NFPA 70E
    • UL certification requirements for custom electrical equipment
  • Advanced proficiency with EPLAN or AutoCAD Electrical.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate across all organizational levels.
  • Valid driver's license with a good motor vehicle record (MVR).
  • Ability and willingness to travel occasionally as business needs require.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Experience with PLC and/or SCADA control system integration within utility‑scale power distribution networks.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies applied within engineering environments.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Effectively manage time, follow direction, and complete assignments within established timelines.
  • Successfully complete required training and maintain all necessary safety certifications.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable industry safety standards and regulations.
  • Review and respond to company communications, including emails, voice messages, and text messages, during scheduled workdays.
  • Ensure voicemail systems remain maintained and accessible.
  • Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
  • Ability to remain seated at a computer workstation for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and move up to 60 pounds.
  • Perform general office tasks, including filing, copying, telephone communication, and administrative activities.
  • Maintain regular, reliable, and punctual attendance.
  • Occasional travel by air or vehicle to customer locations and work sites across a broad geographic area.
