Job summary

SHELADIA Associates, Inc. is seeking an Electrical Engineering Lead to direct assessments and modernization of electrical systems for mission-critical facilities, including generators, UPS, and energy management.

The role requires leadership, strong communication, and the ability to coordinate across disciplines. Travel to project sites worldwide is possible; the position is based in the Washington, DC area and involves collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams on complex building projects.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from an accredited program.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive electrical engineering experience.
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Experience assessing, designing, or modernizing complex building electrical and emergency-power systems.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical, life-safety, energy, grounding, lighting, and mission-critical power standards, including generators, UPS, and lightning protection.
  • Proficiency with power-analysis, lighting, BIM/CADD, energy, and document-review platforms.
  • Strong leadership, communication, technical writing, and professional judgment skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government personnel security clearance when required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead assessments of normal and emergency power, electrical distribution, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, controls, and related electrical systems.
  • Evaluate electrical capacity, condition, reliability, redundancy, power quality, code compliance, maintainability, and remaining service life.
  • Develop repair, replacement, resiliency, modernization, energy-efficiency, and life-cycle improvement recommendations.
  • Support mission-critical power systems, including generators, uninterruptible power supplies, renewable energy, microgrid concepts, and energy-management initiatives.
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with architectural, mechanical, structural, fire-protection, communications, information-management, physical-security, and technical-security systems.
  • Support facility-condition assessments, maintenance planning, feasibility studies, and capital-improvement programs.
  • Prepare and review electrical calculations, one-line diagrams, studies, drawings, specifications, technical reports, cost inputs, schedules, and scopes of work.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary Integrated Design Reviews and independent technical reviews throughout the design process.
  • Support constructability reviews, value engineering, construction administration, testing, commissioning, system turnover, and operational readiness.
  • Provide quality-control reviews, mentor engineering staff, and support proposals, interviews, and client presentations as needed.
