Job summary

Stantec’s Buildings team is seeking a Lead Electrical Engineer to serve as the technical lead on projects of varying sizes, located in Stamford, CT or other Northeast locations. You will guide a team of electrical engineers and designers through all project phases, delivering fully documented designs for complex facilities.

The role emphasizes leadership, client interaction, and adherence to NFPA/IBC/energy codes while integrating sustainable principles and cross-disciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering with lighting/electrical emphasis.
  • 15+ years of related professional experience preferred.
  • Professional Engineer license preferred.
  • LEED Green Associate or LEED AP preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, laboratory and industrial facilities is advantageous but not required.
  • Strong knowledge of NFPA Standards, International Building Codes and energy codes.
  • Ability to lead multiple projects and teams with strong client communication.

Responsibilities

  • Leads work on multiple projects with a design team to develop full documentation for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Provides supervision to staff to develop skills and guide career goals.
  • Leads in client meetings to establish design criteria and review progress through construction administration.
  • Leads in evaluation, selection, and engineering of electrical systems and products.
  • Leads the preparation and coordination of project specifications with construction documents.
  • Leads development of design through sketches, calculations, models, diagrams, and other visuals.
  • Prepares and reviews site plans, floor plans, diagrams, and details.
  • Leads project coordination meetings with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Conducts QA/QC on own projects and peers.
  • Leads development of new standards and specifications for the electrical group.
  • Performs field work to review facility conditions for electrical design documents.
  • Applies sustainable design principles within projects.
  • Mentors junior staff and integrates design elements with other disciplines.
