Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 6+ years of electrical engineering experience with hardware ownership from architecture to production.
• Strong fundamentals in circuit design, power management, mixed-signal electronics, and debugging.

WHOOP is hiring an Electrical Engineering Lead to lead the development of a next-generation charging platform for WHOOP wearable technology. As part of the Hardware Engineering team, you will serve as the technical lead for a highly integrated product, owning electrical system-level development from architecture through high-volume production. This is a player-coach role where you will manage and develop a small team of electrical engineers while remaining deeply hands-on in the technical work. You will set technical direction, contribute directly to design and problem-solving, and partner closely with Mechanical, Firmware, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product teams to deliver a robust and intuitive product experience at scale.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Serve as the technical lead for a highly integrated charging product, owning system architecture and technical direction while driving engineering execution from concept through validation, NPI, and high-volume production

• Manage and develop a small team of electrical engineers, establishing clear ownership and priorities while providing mentorship, design guidance, feedback, and career development

• Operate as a hands-on technical leader, contributing to architecture, circuit design, prototype bring-up, characterization, debugging, and resolution of complex system-level issues

• Define product and system architecture in partnership with Systems, Mechanical, Firmware, and Product teams, translating product requirements into clear technical requirements, interfaces, and engineering priorities

• Lead critical electrical design decisions across power, charging, protection, connectivity, sensing, component selection, PCB design, and system integration

• Drive cross-functional technical tradeoffs across electrical performance, mechanical constraints, firmware behavior, power, thermal performance, reliability, user experience, cost, manufacturability, and schedule

• Partner with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to ensure designs are manufacturable, testable, reliable, and ready to scale from engineering prototypes through high-volume production

• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to collaborate with partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 6+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, including demonstrated technical ownership of complex hardware products or systems from architecture through validation and production

• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals with deep experience in circuit design, power architecture and power management, mixed-signal electronics, digital communication interfaces, component selection, and debugging complex systems

• Demonstrated ability to define system architecture, make cross-functional technical tradeoffs, and translate ambiguous product requirements into clear engineering direction

• Strong hands-on experience with schematic capture, PCB design and layout review, prototype bring-up, characterization, and debugging using ECAD and laboratory test equipment

• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to drive technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams and clearly communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations

• Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day-to-day tasks, ensuring AI-assisted work aligns with the same high-quality standards as personal contributions.

• Desired: Experience managing and developing electrical engineers while remaining hands-on in technical execution

The U.S. base salary range for this full-time position is$140,000 - $195,000. Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within each range, individual pay is based on factors such as job-related skills, experience, performance, and relevant education or training.

In addition to the base salary, the successful candidate will also receive benefits and a generous equity package..

These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs. While most offers will typically fall toward the starting point of the range, total compensation will depend on the candidate’s specific qualifications, expertise, and alignment with the role’s requirements.
