Job summary

WHOOP in Boston is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead electrical designs for next-generation charging platforms and wearable hardware. You will translate requirements into robust hardware, owning subsystems while collaborating across Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product teams.

This role requires a Bachelor's in E.E. or related field and 5+ years of hardware experience, with hands-on skills in schematic capture, PCB layout, test, and debug.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience with ownership of hardware from concept to production.
• Strong fundamentals across analog/digital design, power architecture, interfaces, and debugging of complex systems.
• Experience designing highly integrated electronics with schematic capture and PCB layout decisions.
• Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Own electrical designs and subsystems translating requirements into specs, components, schematics, and production-ready hardware.
• Design integrated, low-power mixed-signal electronics, balancing performance, power, size, cost and reliability.
• Drive designs from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype bring-up, characterization, and production.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Manufacturing, and other teams to define interfaces and ensure reliable designs.
• Evaluate new components and approaches to enable future capabilities and improve performance.
• Support NPI and high-volume manufacturing with design for manufacturability, testing, failure analysis and ramp.
• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally.

WHOOP is hiring a Senior Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design and development of next-generation charging platforms and supporting hardware for WHOOP wearable technology. As a member of the Hardware Engineering team, you will own critical electrical designs and subsystems, translating product and system requirements into robust, highly integrated hardware. You will work closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Product teams to make design tradeoffs, develop and validate new hardware, and bring complex electrical systems from early development through high-volume production.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Own electrical designs and subsystems, translating system requirements into electrical specifications, component selections, schematics, and production-ready hardware

• Design highly integrated, miniaturized, low-power, mixed-signal electronics, making thoughtful tradeoffs across performance, power, size, cost, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule

• Drive electrical designs from concept through schematic capture, PCB layout and design review, prototype bring‑up, characterization, debugging, design iteration, verification, and production

• Partner closely with Electrical, Mechanical, Firmware, Systems, Manufacturing, and other engineering teams to define interfaces, contribute to system‑level tradeoffs, and ensure electrical designs perform reliably within the complete product

• Evaluate new components, technologies, and design approaches that enable future product capabilities and improve electrical system performance

• Support NPI and high‑volume manufacturing by partnering with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, suppliers, and contract manufacturers on design for manufacturability, functional testing, failure analysis, and production ramp

• Travel up to 15% domestically and internationally to collaborate with partners, suppliers, and contract manufacturers

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience

• 5+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience, with demonstrated ownership of electrical hardware designs from concept through prototype, validation, and production

• Strong electrical engineering fundamentals across analog and digital circuit design, power architecture and power management, component selection, communication interfaces, and debugging of complex electrical systems

• Demonstrated experience designing highly integrated electronics, including schematic capture, PCB design and layout review, and making component- and subsystem-level design tradeoffs

• Experience with ECAD tools such as Altium or equivalent tools

• Strong hands‑on hardware development skills, including prototype bring‑up, circuit characterization, debugging, and use of electrical test and measurement equipment

• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to independently drive ambiguous technical problems and communicate design decisions effectively across multidisciplinary teams

• Strong commitment to embracing and leveraging AI tools in day‑to‑day tasks, ensuring AI‑assisted work aligns with the same high‑quality standards as personal contributions.

This role is based in the WHOOP office located in Boston, MA. The successful candidate must be prepared to relocate if necessary to work out of the Boston, MA office.

These ranges may be modified in the future to reflect evolving market conditions and organizational needs.
