Job summary

North Star Imaging (NSI) in Rogers, MN, seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern to study electrical designs and motion control for industrial x-ray systems, focusing on automation and robotics. Qualifications

• Pursuing Electrical Engineering degree with 3.0 GPA+
• Knowledge of automation components including pneumatics, PLC logic, and robotic fixturing/gripping
• Motor control knowledge (servo, stepper, VFD)
• Exposure to programming languages such as C++, C#, structured text, or ladder logic with basic OOP understanding
• Experience with industrial robots is a plus
• Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic, and root cause analysis skills
• Self-motivated, continual learner, comfortable stepping into a lead role when needed
• Strong time management and adaptability in a fast-changing environment

Responsibilities

• Provide robust electrical design for integrating components of our x-ray systems.
• Support and maintain various software solutions.
• Test robotics interfaces.
• Evaluate motion designs including motion control systems and robotics.
• Prepare drawings for fabrication and assembly of equipment.
• Prepare bill of materials.
• Provide analysis of automation components including drive systems.
• Develop risk assessment and safety plan for robotic installations.
• Interface with manufacturing to support product assembly, testing, troubleshooting, and installation.
• Interface with project management to meet schedule and delivery requirements.
• Develop working knowledge of NSI X-ray and NDT techniques.
• Work on multiple concurrent projects and prioritize deadlines.
• Prepare and participate in internal design reviews with cross functional team.
• Collaborate with other engineers to develop innovative solutions.
• Other duties as assigned.
