Job summary

North Star Imaging, based in Rogers, MN, seeks an early career Software Engineer to join the Engineering Innovation team. You will design and develop the next generation software for X-ray imaging and CT of industrial parts used in non-destructive testing.

The role is based at the corporate office in Rogers, MN, with responsibilities spanning software design, documentation, and collaboration with hardware teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering.
• Proficient with C++, C# or Python.
• Experience with Agile software development.
• Experience with Machine Learning, tools like Claude/Cursor, PyTorch, TensorFlow.
• Self-motivated and solid problem-solving abilities.
• Team player – leverage existing code and teammates.
• Flexible and adaptable to evolving specifications.
• Customer-focused with a preference for practical solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and support software for use in X-ray imaging and computed tomography.
• Create technical design, implementation and training documentation that describes new software functionality.
• Use varied development tools including Visual Studio, GitHub, coding agents, issue and task tracking for implementation of software solutions.
• Communicate new developments and findings to internal/external customers in the form of presentations, technical reports and patent applications.
• Develop and support software interfaces to a variety of hardware devices: UIs, X-ray detectors, X-ray sources, optical cameras, motion components, robots.
• Support new and maintaining engineering and planning.
• Other duties as assigned.
