Job summary

CDM Smith’s Chicago office is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for Summer 2027. You will join a team of industry-leading engineers on a diverse portfolio of public, federal, and industrial projects, supporting electrical system design and analysis.

Responsibilities include drafting electrical drawings, performing calculations, and assisting with distribution design and shop drawings. The role offers hands-on experience in power systems and a path toward professional growth.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled and pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, Electrical Technology or related discipline with an interest in power systems and/or electrical distribution.

Responsibilities

• Developing drawings for electrical systems (power, controls, communications, fire alarm, and security) using CADD.
• Performing electrical calculations using systems analyses software (lighting, load, voltage drop, etc.).
• Assisting in the development of electrical distribution design plans and single line diagrams.
• Reviewing shop drawings and assist with general construction services.

Education

Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
