Job summary

CDM Smith in Denver is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for Summer 2027 to collaborate with a team on public, federal, and industrial projects. You will develop drawings for electrical systems, perform calculations, and assist in distribution design under supervision.

You will gain exposure to master planning, power system design, and sustainability initiatives, with mentorship and hands-on experience in a diverse project portfolio at our Denver office.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in Electrical Engineering (Bachelors or Masters) or related discipline.
• Interest in power systems and/or electrical distribution.
• Desire to learn through hands-on design and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop drawings for electrical systems (power, controls, communications, fire alarm, security) using CADD.
• Perform electrical calculations using systems analyses software (lighting, load, voltage drop).
• Assist in development of electrical distribution design plans and single line diagrams.
• Review shop drawings and assist with general construction services.
