Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Electrical Engineering students to join the Power Delivery team in our Saint Paul, MN office. This internship is not a remote position and offers exposure to pre-design and design engineering activities across ports, harbors electrification, EV charging, and building electrical systems.

Applicants should be in the process of earning an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree (Bachelors or Masters). Rate: $30-$31 hourly.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering degree in progress (Bachelors or Masters).
  • Strong interest in power delivery and electrical design.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and verify as-built drawings.
  • Perform field investigations.
  • Set up drawings and models for multiple disciplines.
  • Collaborate on design coordination, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Perform feasibility studies.
  • Prepare schematic designs.
  • Design electrical systems including ports/harbors electrification, EV charging, and building electrical.
  • Develop reports and design documents, including electrical plans, equipment sizing, solar sizing, and power analyses.
  • Perform energy calculations using EnergyPro or IES VE.
  • Develop single-line diagrams and load schedules.
  • Design lighting selection and controls.
  • Design normal, emergency, and renewable power systems.
  • Perform Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP and/or SKM.
