Job summary

Kimley-Horn is seeking Electrical Engineering students to join our Charlotte, North Carolina office in the Power Delivery team. This is not a remote position and offers hands-on experience with power systems and design across multiple disciplines.

You will contribute to pre-design and design activities, conduct field investigations, and participate in energy calculations and electrical design documentation.

Qualifications

  • Candidate must be enrolled in an ABET-accredited Electrical Engineering program (Bachelor's or Master's).

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and verify as-built drawings.
  • Perform field investigations.
  • Set up drawings and models for multiple disciplines.
  • Collaborate with team members regarding design coordination, schedules, and deliverables.
  • Perform feasibility studies.
  • Prepare schematic designs.
  • Design electrical systems including Ports & Harbors electrification, electric vehicle charging, and building electrical.
  • Develop reports and design documents, including electrical design plans, equipment selection, solar system sizing, and power analyses.
  • Participate on project teams in an active production role.
  • Daily interaction and collaboration on cross-functional teams across multiple disciplines.
  • Perform energy calculations using EnergyPro or IES VE.
  • Develop single-line diagrams and load schedules.
  • Design lighting selection and controls.
  • Design normal, emergency, and renewable power systems.
  • Perform Arc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination Power System Studies using ETAP and/or SKM

Education
