Job summary

Corning is seeking an Electrical Engineering intern for a 10-week Summer 2027 program at our Corning, NY facility. You will assist in troubleshooting infrastructure equipment, work with Engineering and Quality to document repairs, and gain hands-on exposure to electrical systems in a manufacturing setting.

Eligible students must be enrolled in a BSEE/BSEET program, with experience using voltmeters/oscilloscopes, AutoCAD for drawings, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited program entering Junior or Senior year for BSEE or BSEET degree.
• Experience using volt/ammeters & oscilloscopes.
• Ability to use AutoCAD to update electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Ability to use electrical test meters, PC’s and/or schematics to troubleshoot electrical equipment/infrastructure.
• Power Engineering coursework or knowledge
• Proficient with MS Office applications.
• Must be available for 10 weeks during Summer 2027 (May-August 2027) with a graduation date of December 2027 or later
• Be interested in working for Corning, Inc after graduation, if presented with a full‑time job opportunity.
• Be willing to work at the posted job location

Responsibilities

• Assist in troubleshooting infrastructure equipment, systems and processes to ensure uninterrupted power.
• Document repairs/changes made to equipment and electrical infrastructure with Quality and Engineering.
• Identify critical spare parts to prevent extended downtime.
• Participate in required shutdowns and safety procedures (PPA’s).
• Assist in troubleshooting to the component level.
• Collaborate with union trades, subcontractors, and cross-functional teams.
• Be a self-starter, motivated to complete tasks and multi-task.
