Job summary

City Utilities of Springfield invites you to join our engineering team as an intern. Under the Electric T&D Specialist, you will perform engineering duties to support pole replacement projects and distribution design.

The internship requires 20-25 hours per week during school terms and 40 hours per week in summer, not to exceed 1,500 hours per calendar year. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program and eligible for internship status.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• No prior engineering experience is required.
• Basic knowledge of AutoCAD and/or GIS software is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general engineering design and drafting for electric distribution and transmission projects.
• Design line extensions for new commercial/industrial customers.
• Redesign facilities due to load or system changes and for planning projects.
