Job summary

IMEG, an employee-owned firm, seeks an Electrical Engineering Intern in Urbandale, IA for a 10–12 week summer program. You will work with a team on analysis, design, and oversight of electrical systems in buildings, gaining hands‑on experience across real project work.

You will support budgets, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to project documentation and site observations, positioning you for growth within a full-time, mentored internship pathway.

Qualifications

  • Completed at least 2 years towards a BS in Electrical Engineering.
  • Strong interest in design consulting.
  • Exposure to CAD and/or BIM software.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate clearly, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with analysis, design, and implementation oversight of electrical systems in buildings.
  • Assist with design portions of projects per code and IMEG standards.
  • Support project work within budget while collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Assist with researching resources for commercially available equipment.
  • Assist with client relations, project notebook, and permanent-record documentation.
  • Coordinate design and schedule with disciplines such as architecture, structural, electrical, mechanical, technology, clerical, and equipment suppliers.
  • Document design decisions, meetings, and client instructions promptly.
  • Review project documents for accuracy and completeness before final check.
  • Prepare and issue addendum information.
  • Conduct periodic job site observations and other services as required by the contract.
