Job summary

Proception Inc. seeks an Electrical Engineering intern to design and test PCBAs for motor control, power distribution, and sensing in humanoid robots. You will work from schematic to board bring-up and system validation under real thermal and EMI constraints.

The role emphasizes hands-on lab work, integration with mechanical and software teams, and opportunities for full-time conversion after the internship. TN sponsorship is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
• Project experience with PCB design, bring-up, and debugging.
• Experience with power, digital and analog electronics; high-speed design.
• Familiarity with lab equipment and electronics testing.
• PCB design in KiCad or Altium; includes schematic capture and multi-layer layout.
• Basic mechanical understanding; LTspice, Python, Matlab familiarity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and test sub-sections of PCBA hardware (power, sensing, motor control).
• Integrate and test tactile, IMU, encoder, and sensor modalities for closed-loop control.
• Optimize PCB layouts for thermal and EMI/EMC; ensure signal integrity.
• Support system integration and test activities, root-cause issues.
• Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to validate designs.
• Participate in the interview process; port polishes and a portfolio recommended.

Job description

Join our electrical systems team to build robust motor-control, power-distribution, and communications hardware for multi-actuator humanoid robots. You will work from schematic and layout through board bring-up and system validation, with direct exposure to the thermal, EMI, and reliability constraints of real robotic platforms.

Requirements

• 01 Pursuing a BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Engineering, or a related field
• 02 Project experience with PCB design, bring-up, and debugging
• 04 Experience with power electronics (motor driver, switch mode power supplies), digital electronics (MCU, Ethernet, USB, SPI, I2C), and analog electronics (filters, ADC/DAC)
• 05 Familiarity with high-speed design and layout
• 06 Hands-on experience with electronics lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and power analyzers
• 07 PCB design experience in KiCad or Altium, including schematic capture, multi-layer layout, and component libraries
• 08 (+) Experience with Flex PCB Design
• 09 (+) Experience using LTspice, Python, and Matlab
• 10 (+) Basic understanding of mechanical design fundamentals

Details & responsibilities

• 01 Design and test full or sub sections of PCBAs on the system, such as power distribution boards, battery management systems, sensing boards, motor controllers, and compute boards
• 02 Integrate and test tactile, IMU, encoder, and force/torque sensor modalities for closed-loop robotic control
• 03 Help optimize PCB layouts for thermal performance, EMI/EMC, and signal-integrity requirements
• 04 Support system integration and test activities by contributing to test execution and problem diagnostics and resolution
• 05 Work closely with mechanical and software teams to validate electrical designs in real robotic systems
