Job summary

Brelle in California is seeking a Director of Electrical Engineering to lead and shape the electrical engineering function across our high-performance energy and powertrain programs. You will own system architecture, electrical design, integration, and validation, while building a strong team that delivers reliable, manufacturable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Significant experience leading design and development of complex electrical systems for physical products.
• Experience managing engineers through direct mentorship and technical leadership.
• Deep understanding of electrical system architecture, circuit design, and hardware integration.
• Experience taking designs from concept through prototyping, testing, validation, and production.
• Ability to evaluate tradeoffs across performance, reliability, safety, cost, and manufacturability.

Responsibilities

• Own the electrical engineering function, setting direction, priorities, and standards across products.
• Lead system architecture, design, and integration of electrical systems for performance and reliability.
• Guide design across power distribution, control electronics, ECUs, and supporting hardware.
• Establish design reviews, documentation, verification, and validation practices as the team scales.
• Lead early architecture through prototyping, testing, and production readiness with cross-functional teams.
• Oversee interface design, wiring, connectors, and related systems while ensuring safety and EMC.
• Drive root cause analysis and resolution of system-level issues across programs.
• Mentor engineers, grow ownership, and shape hiring plans as the team expands.
