Job summary

Battelle Memorial Institute is seeking an Electrical Engineering Co-op for Spring Semester 2027 (January–April). This 100% onsite role in Columbus, Ohio supports Battelle’s National Security business in electronics and electromechanical systems.

Responsibilities include hardware design support, soldering, wiring, firmware development, and documentation. Applicants should be pursuing EE degrees and be able to obtain US government clearance.

Qualifications

• Pursuing bachelor’s or master’s in electrical engineering, at least sophomore.
• Experience with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and function generators.
• Lab experience including soldering, wiring, testing, data collection.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• U.S. citizen eligible for government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Support electrical system design tasks including part searching and component specification.
• Soldering circuit boards and building wire harnesses.
• Write firmware and design circuits (simulation, PCB layout, testing).
• Prepare engineering documentation as required.
• Provide engineering support to product staff and managers.
