Job summary

Sonos is seeking talented students for a 6‑month Co‑Op in Boston. This full‑time, 40-hour-per-week position requires onsite presence at least 4 days weekly, Jan 2027 to June 2027, with no relocation assistance.

You will contribute to development of world-class audio products, work on Embedded Systems, digital design, and analog/power electronics, and gain mentorship while collaborating across disciplines.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a college/university in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Must be available January–June 2027 and able to work in Boston four days per week.
• Interest in embedded systems, analog/power electronics, and audio hardware.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to development of world-class audio products.
• Learn end-to-end design of GHz SOC-based embedded systems.
• Test, debug, and validate new designs.
• Support power supplies and audio amplifiers design and testing.

Work Period: Jan 2027 - June 2027

Location & Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position with a minimum 4 days per week onsite in our Boston, MA office. There is no relocation or housing assistance for this position.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

• Participate in the development of groundbreaking world class audio products
• Those students following an Embedded Systems or Computer Engineering curriculum would participate in the following:
  • Learn the end to end process by which Sonos designs high performance, Gigahertz SOC based, Embedded Systems
  • Perform circuit analysis and simulation for high speed digital interconnect and low voltage power distribution.
  • Test and validate new designs, debug and improve those designs as necessary
  • Enhance the excellence of Sonos products through research and prototyping of new technologies
• Those students following a Power or Analog Electrical Engineering curriculum would participate in the following:
  • Support the design and verification of high-performance power supplies and audio amplifiers.
  • Analyze, simulate, prototype, and test analog and power circuits.
  • Develop supporting circuits using ADCs, DACs, op amps, and signal-conditioning components.
  • Interface analog and power hardware with microcontrollers and DSPs.
  • Characterize efficiency, audio performance, thermal behavior, stability, and protection features.

SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES

Basic Qualifications

• Highly motivated to learn, passionate about electronics, and a strong sense of ownership.
• Undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering taking or planning to take the following major courses in Embedded Systems or Computer Engineering curriculum: Circuit theory Digital Logic Design Computer Systems Engineering Computer Organization and Design
• Undergraduate or graduate student in Electrical Engineering taking or planning to take the following major courses in Power or Analog Electrical Engineering curriculum: Circuit Theory Analog Electronics Power Electronics Control Systems

Preferred Qualifications

• For those following an Embedded system or Computer Engineering curriculum: Basic understanding of these Engineering Topics: Linux OS navigation and network configuration Embedded System Design (with a focus on Hardware) Synchronous Digital Electronics Concepts. Transmission line theory in high speed digital design
• For those following a Power or Analog Electrical Engineering curriculum: Experience with analog, power, or audio circuit design and testing. Familiarity with switching power supplies, amplifiers, ADCs, DACs, and op amps. Understanding of feedback, stability, filtering, noise, and distortion. Experience using circuit simulation tools and common laboratory equipment.

PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently enrolled in a College or University with a preferred field of study in Electrical Engineering
• Available to participate in our full-time co-op program from January - June 2027
• Ability to work out of our Boston office a minimum 4 days per week
• Applicants must be authorized to work for any US employer, both now and in the future.
