Job summary

California Water Service is seeking an Electrical Engineer to lead electrical and controls engineering for water facilities in the San Jose office. You will manage design, project scope, schedule, and budget, while coordinating with contractors and agencies to deliver compliant electrical systems.

The role requires knowledge of NEC, motor control centers, and power distribution studies, with proven ability to prepare construction drawings, bids, and proposals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent water utility experience.
• Two years of experience working as an electrical engineer.
• Project management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with AutoCAD and development of design plans.
• Valid California Driver License.
• CA EIT or CA PE desirable.
• Proficiency in ETAP or similar power system modeling software is desirable.
• Knowledge of NEC, electrical construction, and motor control centers.

Responsibilities

• Prepares construction drawings and writes specifications for electrical design of water facilities.
• Performs advanced engineering calculations for low and medium voltage power distribution and motor control.
• Prepares construction contracts, bids, and awards.
• Specifies, develops bid packages, and procures major equipment.
• Prepares RFPs and analyzes consultants or vendors.
• Manages project scope, schedule, and budget.
• Communicates with project contractors, consultants, agencies, and staff.
• Prepares data tables, graphs, cost estimations, and reports for evaluations and projects.
• Interprets engineering reports and provides input to projects.
• Publishes documents for distribution to communities and government agencies.
