Job summary

Black & Veatch Corporation is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support Utility-Scale Solar proposals and projects. The role involves complex electrical design work, equipment specification, and coordination with project teams.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s in electrical engineering and practical experience with electrical drawings, ETAP/SKM studies, and MS Office. Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after 90 days, with up to 10% national travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 1 year of related work experience and ability to read electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel; good written and verbal English communication.
• Up to 10% national travel and hybrid/flex work options after 90 days, based on performance.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed electrical design calculations for solar projects per national codes and industry standards.
• Prepare technical equipment specifications for large solar projects; assess MV/LV switchgear, transformers, cables, inverters, and protective devices.
• Conduct load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and cable sizing studies using ETAP/SKM or equivalents; verify protection schemes.
• Coordinate with project leadership and internal teams to ensure budget, schedule, and quality requirements are met.
