Job summary

HDR, Inc. in Boston, MA seeks an Electrical Engineer (Transportation) to lead electrical design for large institutional/industrial projects. You will coordinate the electrical design team through schematic design to contract documents, ensuring code compliance and schedule adherence.

The role requires a PE license and 3+ years of building electrical design experience. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI, and Easy Power is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
  • Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license required.
  • 3+ years of electrical design experience for buildings (lighting/power/systems).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through schematic design development and CD phase.
  • Establish meetings and reviews with agencies for code compliance.
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule.
  • Conduct site work sessions with PM and other disciplines.
  • Review electrical documents for conflicts with other disciplines.
  • Write/edit electrical specs and select equipment, systems and devices.
  • Coordinate with affected disciplines on addenda, RFIs, CPRs and changes.
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed.
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers or Technicians.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Electrical Engineer (Transportation) we'll count on you to:
  • Coordinate work of the electrical design team on large institutional/industrial projects through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
  • Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
  • Coordinate workload to complete the document on schedule
  • Conduct work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
  • Review electrical documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
  • Write/edit electrical specifications and select equipment, electrical systems and devices
  • Coordinate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take responsibility to incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
  • Provide construction contract administration as needed
  • Conduct QA/QC on the work of other Electrical Engineers, Electrical Coordinators or Technicians
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
  • Preference given to local candidates

  • Previous experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems)
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Strong computer skills using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office, Revit, SKM, AGI and Easy Power
