From designing resilient highways and iconic bridges to advancing transit, passenger and freight rail, aviation, federal transportation ports and marine infrastructure, your work will directly support economic vitality, public safety, sustainability, and quality of life.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate the work of Electrical Engineers with the balance of a multidisciplinary team throughout the entire project's development.
- Establish client relations and participate in marketing, design, and production meetings concerning electrical systems.
- Assume the electrical lead on many projects.
- Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance.
- Conduct schematic, design development, and contract document work sessions at the project site with the Project Manager, Project Architect, and other disciplines.
- Coordinate workload through the entire project development to complete documents on schedule.
- Track the financial aspects of projects and coordinate and adjust work effort with the team to ensure completion within the agreed schedule.
- Work with the Project Manager and Regional Controller for project reviews with corporate management as needed.
- Direct the activities of other electrical engineering professionals and act as a mentor to other staff members as needed.
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm desired.
- Experience as Traction Power Supply and Distribution Design Engineer for Rail Transit Systems.
- Project work experience including Power Supply and Distribution Design for Electrified Bus, Streetcar, Light Rail, Heavy Rail, Commuter Rail and High Speed Rail Projects using Overhead Contact or Third Rail Systems.
- Design work including Power Supply Station Design, Equipment sizing and protection, Utility Supply, System Feeders and Returns, Traction Power Distribution Systems, Grounding, etc.
- Ability to work in both home office and undertake short‑term travel to cities installing or planning to install electrified transit systems.
- Preference is given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in electrical design of buildings (lighting/power/systems).
- Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position (e.g., Professional Engineer (PE) or P.Eng).
- Extensive knowledge of building electrical power, lighting and signal design, including life safety systems and building management systems.
- Strong computer knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and electrical design software.
