Job summary

HDR is seeking a Transportation Design professional to contribute to transit projects in a collaborative, employee-owned culture. You will work under a Project Manager, overseeing EITs and junior engineers while guiding projects from feasibility to construction.

The role requires a PE license, hands-on experience with Microstation, OpenRail Designer, AutoCAD and Civil3D, and strong communication and project management skills. Boston area preference.

Qualifications

  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered (PE or P.Eng).
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in transportation design—transit projects preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with Microstation, OpenRail Designer, AutoCAD and Civil3D.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the work of EITs and Junior Project Engineers.
  • Take responsibility for project involvement from site feasibility to final design and through construction.

Responsibilities
  • Serve in a technical role, under the direction of a Project Manager
  • Oversee the work of EITs and Junior Project Engineers
  • Take responsibility for project involvement, ranging from site feasibility analysis to final design and through the construction phase
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in transportation design - transit projects
  • Preference given to candidates currently residing in the Greater Boston Area
Required Qualifications

Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.

  • Hands-on experience with Microstation, OpenRail Designer, AutoCAD and Civil3D
  • Must be able to work both independently and in a team setting
  • MS Office software experience
  • Excellent oral and written communication and project management skills
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must
