Description

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity.

Our goal is to be Earth's most customer centric company, and we are just getting started. We need people who want to join an ambitious program that continues to push the state of the art in space-based systems design.

We are looking for an Electrical Engineer to join our avionics development team building critical hardware for Amazon Leo satellites. This role is suited for an engineer with strong electrical engineering fundamentals, hands‑on hardware experience, and the ability to independently execute well‑defined technical work.

You will work with peer and senior engineers to design, analyze, build, test, and deliver satellite avionics hardware supporting the flight computer, propulsion control, attitude determination and control, and solar array deployment and control. You will own defined portions of hardware development and contribute across board design, laboratory testing, system integration, qualification, and production support.

Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Key job responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development of satellite avionics hardware from requirements and concept through production.
  • Design and analyze analog, digital, power, and mixed-signal circuits for assigned hardware functions.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, component selections, simulations, and design documentation.
  • Support PCB implementation by defining layout requirements and participating in schematic and layout reviews.
  • Develop and execute hardware bring-up, verification, and qualification testing.
  • Troubleshoot electrical hardware and perform root-cause analysis across development, integration, and production.
  • Support requirements development, interface definition, verification planning, and traceability.
  • Collaborate with systems, firmware, mechanical, test, manufacturing, and integration teams.
  • Develop test hardware, scripts, or automation to improve verification, characterization, and debugging.
A day in the life

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be part of the avionics hardware team designing and testing electronics for the flight computer, propulsion control, attitude determination and control, and solar array deployment and control systems.

You will drive high-quality hardware designs, and ensure robust execution from development into production. Working closely with peer engineers, you will lead critical technical efforts while partnering across systems, firmware, manufacturing, and integration teams to solve complex problems.

You will work closely with systems, firmware, mechanical, test, manufacturing, and integration teams to deliver reliable hardware from development through qualification and production.

You’ll operate in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment, tackling challenges that have not been solved at scale. Along the way, we guarantee that you will learn a lot, have fun, and make a positive impact on tens of millions of people!
