Job summary

MAHLE in Morristown, TN is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Project and Maintenance to lead electrical and electromechanical design efforts, manage projects, and optimize machine reliability. The role involves coordinating installation, testing, and repairs to ensure compliance with specifications and uptime targets.

Responsibilities include PLC/robotics/HMI/CNC programming, data-driven analysis for root cause/failure, and collaboration with vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 2 years related experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC controls, robotics, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement, welding, and building techniques.

Responsibilities

  • Researches and analyzes data to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and assists with mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Plans and directs engineering personnel in building test control apparatus and development of testing methods.
  • Directs and coordinates building and installation activities to ensure designs meet specs.
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities for optimum utilization of machines.
  • Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to reduce malfunctions.
  • Participates in project management for assigned projects.
  • Programs systems involving PLCs, robotics, HMIs, CNC, and motion systems.
  • Researches data for root cause and failure analysis to reduce downtime.
  • Compiles historical data to suggest improvements in machine reliability and performance.
  • Reviews PM systems to improve machine performance.
  • Works with manufacturers/vendors to resolve equipment issues.
  • Develops repair procedures to standardize rebuilds and PMs.
  • Sources parts for better price/reliability.
  • Evaluates parts usage to identify problem areas.
  • Assists with SAP related issues.
  • Participates in maintenance and repair to optimize utilization of machines.
  • Evaluates design modifications to prevent malfunctions.
  • Uses CAD for drawings of electrical schematics and mechanical parts.
  • Participates in and/or manages machinery/automation projects.
  • Troubleshoots PLCs, robotics, HMIs, CNC, and motion systems.

Your Contribution

As an Electrical Engineer - Project and Maintenance, you will be reporting to Head of Process Technology & Technical Services. Lead engineer/project manager that will research, plan, and design electrical and electromechanical products and systems. Also, will direct and coordinate activities involved in building, operation, application, installation, and repair of electrical or electromechanical products and systems by performing the following duties.

This Role Is Responsible To
  • Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application.
  • Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, assist with mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems.
  • Plans and directs engineering personnel in building of test control apparatus and equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems.
  • Directs and coordinates building and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications.
  • Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software.
  • Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Participates in project management for assigned projects.
  • Programs systems involving PLCs, robotics, HMIs, CNC, and motion systems.

  • Takes historical data, and compiles and analyzes it to offer suggestions to improve overall machine reliability and performance.
  • Reviews the PM system to help improve machine performance and reliability.
  • Works with manufacturers and vendors to help solve problems with their equipment.
  • Develops procedures for machine repair processes to standardize rebuilds, repairs, and PM’s.
  • Sources parts for better prices and reliability.
  • Reviews parts usage to determine problem areas.
  • Assist with SAP related issues.
  • Participates in maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment.
  • Evaluates and offers input on design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions.
  • Use of CAD to provide drawing for new or modified mechanical/structural parts, electrical schematics, pneumatic schematics and hydraulic schematics.
  • Participates in and/or manages projects related to machinery and/or automation.
  • Troubleshoots systems involving PLCs, Robotics, HMIs, CNC, and Motion Systems.
  • Modifies electrical hardware designs and assist with daily repairs
Your Experience & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from four-year college or university, two years related experience, and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Applicant should be knowledgeable in the areas of industrial hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC machine controls, robotics, blueprint interpretation, precision measurement techniques, welding, and building techniques.
