Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking an Electrical Engineer/Principal Engineer in the United States to support DoD programs. You will attend meetings, coordinate cross‑functional electrical content, and perform analyses for systems integration and LRU designs.

The role requires a STEM degree with DoD Secret clearance, strong schematic and documentation skills, and experience with PDP/ADP development and government standards. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

Job description

Relocation Assistance

Clearance Requirements

U.S. Government DoD Secret clearance required at the start. Clearance type: Secret.

Responsibilities
  • Attend internal program, customer, and/or supplier technical exchange meetings.
  • Support formal program milestone reviews to provide and/or obtain progress status updates.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations and diverse assignments across all levels.
  • Ensure appropriate coordination between electrical design/analysis and other integration teams.
  • Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
  • Conduct electrical analysis and/or support LRU electrical designs.
  • Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs) and Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and take them through the full review and release process.
  • Review engineering deliverables such as one‑lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis, and trade studies.
  • Perform research, trade studies, evaluation, and systems integration in electrical or electro‑mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment, and more.
  • Use strong interpersonal skills to understand system‑level interdependencies that impact electrical requirements and design constraints.
  • Demonstrate leadership principles – integrity, respect, organization, and communication.
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in an STEM discipline and 2 years of experience, or 0 years of experience with a Master’s degree.
  • Principal Engineer: Bachelor’s degree in an STEM discipline and 5 years of experience, or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree, or 0 years of experience with a Ph.D.
  • Both Levels: U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance at the time of application, current and within scope (< 6 years). Comfortable with electrical and/or power‑systems design, electrical analysis, cable‑harness design, and/or distribution boxes. Knowledgeable with line loss, derating, bent pin, power load, and/or signal/power integrity analysis. Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical manuals. Experience preparing technical reports, specifications, and presenting design concepts to stakeholders. Comfortable with industry codes, standards, specifications, and mil‑specs. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Experience creating wiring diagrams, harness drawings, and bill of materials (BOM) documents.
  • Strong understanding of cable construction, materials, and performance characteristics.
  • Knowledgeable of IPC/WHMA-A-620.
  • Proficiency with CAD/ECAD tools for cable design (Siemens Capital).
  • Ability to perform cable sizing, voltage drop, and ampacity calculations using analytical methods or software.
  • Experience managing design revisions, change orders, and interfacing with cross‑functional teams.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting status of program activities.

Compensation

Primary Level Salary Range: $91,800.00 – $137,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $114,000.00 – $171,000.00

Work Schedule

9/80 schedule: nine‑hour days Monday through Thursday, with every other Friday off.
