Position

Principal Electrical Engineer / Senior Principal Electrical Engineer (Sentinel Program)

Location

Roy, UT.

Relocation & Travel

Relocation assistance may be available. Travel required up to 10% of the time.

Clearance

Requires a Secret clearance. Must be a U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) approval.

Responsibilities
  • Attend internal program, customer and/or supplier technical exchange meetings.
  • Support formal program milestone reviews and provide progress status updates.
  • Work in a fast‑paced environment with high expectations and diverse assignments across all levels.
  • Coordinate electrical design with integration teams and ensure appropriate alignment.
  • Coordinate electrical system engineering content and work products.
  • Conduct electrical analysis and develop LRU electrical designs.
  • Develop Product Definition Packages (PDPs) / Analysis Data Packages (ADPs) and guide them through the full review and release process.
  • Review engineering deliverables such as one‑lines, schematics, wiring diagrams, part data sheets, interconnect diagrams, specifications, electrical analysis and trade studies.
  • Perform research, trade studies, evaluation and systems integration in electrical or electro‑mechanical systems, cables, connectors, power systems, test equipment and related areas.
  • Apply strong interpersonal skills to understand system‑level interdependencies affecting electrical requirements and design constraints.
  • Demonstrate leadership principles: integrity, respect, organizational and communication skills.
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in STEM from an accredited university and 5 years of experience (or 3 years of experience with a Master’s degree).
  • Ph.D. holder with 0 years of experience (or 4 years with a Ph.D.)
  • Or, for a higher level position: Bachelor’s degree in STEM and 9 years of experience (or 7 years with a Master’s degree).
  • Must be U.S. citizen with an active DoD Secret clearance.
  • Must obtain/maintain SAP approval.
  • Knowledgeable with Siemens Teamcenter PLM or equivalent.
  • Experience in at least two of the following fields: electrical architecture, power systems, cable design, circuit design, interface definition (internal or external), or power distribution.
  • Knowledge of industry/military codes and standards (mil‑specs, IEEE, NEC, NESC, NFPA, IEC, UFC).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Designing, troubleshooting (RCA) and implementing ground power systems, facility power systems, or launch power systems.
  • Experience with high‑power and/or high‑frequency systems, including power electronics.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC design, shielding techniques, and thermal management for electronic systems.
  • Authorship and release of engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, and test procedures.
  • Designing cables to IPC/WHMA‑A‑620.
  • Familiarity with DoD acquisition processes, milestone reviews, and government contracting.
  • Experience maintaining and reporting program activity status, earned‑value experience.

Salary
  • Primary level: $98,400.00 – $147,600.00.
  • Secondary level: $122,800.00 – $184,200.00.

The standard work schedule is a 9/80 schedule.
