Job summary

Tetra Tech is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer, PE to join our Irvine, CA office. You will design electrical systems for water, wastewater, and related infrastructure, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams to ensure technical excellence and quality.

From concept through construction, you will contribute to planning, design, and implementation, while supporting schedules, budgets, and documentation. Field work and occasional travel may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• 5+ years of experience in a consulting engineering environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license in the state of primary practice, or ability to obtain via comity within 12 months.
• Experience with utility coordination and permitting processes.
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and presentation skills.
• Strong understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and related electrical design regulations.
• Proficiency with power systems analysis software (e.g., SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, EasyPower, AmpCalc).
• Proven experience in the design of water and wastewater facilities; additional experience with industrial or transportation projects is a plus.
• Valid, unrestricted driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Perform electrical systems planning, design, and calculations for complex infrastructure projects.
• Develop detailed electrical and control schematics.
• Design medium- and low-voltage power systems, lighting, grounding, lightning protection, fire alarm, security, and data/communications."
• Prepare project-specific technical specifications using CSI MasterFormat and UFGS standards.
• Incorporate design updates using AutoCAD and/or Revit.
• Estimate level of effort and construction costs at various project phases.
• Review submittals and respond to RFIs.
