Job summary

Owen Thomas Group in New York City seeks an Electrical Engineer to join its growing MEP team. The role spans from initial design to construction administration on complex building projects, collaborating with senior engineers and architects.

Four+ years of experience and a PE license are preferred, with strong NEC/NYC Code knowledge and proficiency in Revit/AutoCAD. We offer a collaborative environment emphasizing professional growth, mentorship, and delivering technically challenging projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• At least 4 years of experience designing building electrical systems within an MEP consulting environment.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or active licensure pursuit.
• Knowledge of NEC, NYC Electrical Code, New York Building Code, and NFPA standards.
• Experience with all design phases from schematic design to construction administration.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for building projects and present design solutions to clients and project teams.
• Prepare construction drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
• Perform engineering calculations including load analysis, short circuit studies, voltage drop, and emergency power sizing.
• Evaluate existing electrical systems and prepare assessment reports with design recommendations.
• Support construction administration by responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, site visits, coordinating with contractors, and assisting with punch lists.
• Collaborate with architects and other engineering disciplines throughout the design process.
• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships through successful project delivery.
