Job summary

Valar Atomics is seeking an Electrical Engineer to design and deliver MV/LV electrical systems for nuclear fuel manufacturing facilities. You will perform load studies, arc flash analysis, equipment sizing, and develop single-line diagrams from utility interconnection through MCCs.

Work with senior engineers and multidisciplinary teams to support design reviews, commissioning, and safety-critical projects in a fast-paced, high-stakes environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 1+ years of electrical engineering experience in industrial facilities.
  • Experience with MV/LV distribution systems and electrical design deliverables.
  • Familiarity with NEC/IEEE/IEC standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain electrical load lists and support power system studies (load flow, short circuit, voltage drop, motor starting, harmonic analysis).
  • Prepare arc flash hazard analysis per IEEE 1584 and substation grounding per IEEE 80.
  • Assist with sizing and selection of transformers, cables, switchgear, bus systems, capacitor banks, UPS and batteries.
  • Develop and update single line diagrams for MV/LV distribution from utility interface through MCCs and final distribution.
  • Prepare electrical equipment layouts, cable schedules, tray routing, and underground duct bank designs.
  • Support specifications and data sheets for MV switchgear, LV switchboards, MCCs, distribution panels, transformers, bus ducts, VFDs, UPS and standby generators.
  • Support electrical area classification drawings per NEC/CEC 500 or IEC 60079.
  • Assist with protection coordination studies, time-current plots, relay settings, and equipment metering.
  • Develop and review electrical drawings (relay panels, DC control schematics, MCC wiring).
  • Support vendor bid evaluations and technical documentation reviews.
  • Support installation specs and pre-commissioning/commissioning activities (insulation tests, continuity checks, relay injection).
  • Coordinate with I&C and civil/structural engineers on interfaces and layouts.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
  • Prepare calculations, reports, drawings and specifications under supervision of senior engineers.
  • Apply electrical codes and standards to ensure consistent design practices.
