Job summary

Combined Selection Group Ltd is seeking an Electrical Engineer in Illinois to design and validate fractional horsepower motor systems and drive electronics. You will handle motor design, embedded firmware, and real-time control across the full development lifecycle, including HIL testing and product validation.

The role requires 5+ years in motor control or electromechanical actuation, with strong knowledge of motor physics, control theory, and CAN/RS-485 communication.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years in motor control or electromechanical actuation.
  • Strong knowledge of motor physics, control theory, firmware, and power electronics.

Responsibilities

  • Design and analyse BLDC, PMSM, brushed DC, and stepper motor systems.
  • Develop motor drive electronics, mixed-signal schematics, and PCB designs.
  • Implement motor control algorithms (FOC, PID, sensorless) and embedded firmware (C/C++).
  • Integrate motors into electromechanical actuator systems.
  • Support hardware bring-up, HIL testing, debugging, and validation.
  • Develop test plans, analyse performance, and resolve firmware issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and support DO-160/DO-254 compliant standards.
