ELECTRICAL ENGINEER – MOBILE POWER GENERATION required by our client in the energy industry for a permanent position in Katy, TX.

Position Scope

Seeking a highly skilled Electrical Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for mobile power generation. The candidate should have extensive experience in power conversion systems and will be responsible for designing, analyzing, drafting electrical power distribution and conversion systems for mobile applications, as well as assisting manufacturing during packaging and factory acceptance testing.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop electrical power conversion systems, including VFDs, ESS, UPS, and Fuel Cells.
2. Identify, size, and specify key electrical components for optimal performance and reliability.
3. Create electrical schematics, one-line diagrams, general arrangements, and interface drawings.
4. Design and implement power distribution systems, ensuring compliance with electrical standards, including load studies, short circuit analysis, thermal management, and arc flash assessments.
5. Manage electrical equipment and installation BOMs, including cable schedules and panel BOMs.
6. Provide technical support to manufacturing during construction, including training, shadowing, and documentation.
7. Analyze and optimize system designs for manufacturability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
8. Ensure designs adhere to industry standards (NEC, IEEE, IEC) and safety practices.
9. Travel to customer sites for surveys and commissioning as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

• 7+ years in electrical engineering focusing on power conversion and distribution.
• Experience with designing, packaging, and implementing power systems like VFDs, ESS, UPS, Fuel Cells.
• Proficiency in electrical drafting software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, EPlan, See Electrical, Capital Electra X) and general arrangement drafting tools.
• Deep understanding of component sizing, voltage drop, short circuit analysis, and thermal management.
• Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with generator power systems and alternative energy sources.
• Knowledge of power electronics and control systems.
• Familiarity with embedded control systems and PLCs.
