Job summary

Telios Corporation is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical practice in Overland Park, KS. You will design low- and medium-voltage distribution for data centers and critical facilities, and produce construction drawings and specifications using Revit.

You will perform power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash) with SKM/ETAP, size equipment like switchgear, UPS, generators, and coordinate with multi-discipline teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Architectural Engineering and 3+ years of electrical design experience.
• Proficiency in Revit for electrical design and documentation.
• Hands-on experience with power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash).
• Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA and related electrical codes.

Responsibilities

• Design MV and LV distribution for mission critical facilities from concept to construction documents.
• Develop electrical construction drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specs in Revit.
• Perform short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies with industry tools (SKM/ETAP).
• Select and specify equipment such as switchgear, generators, UPS, transformers, and distribution panels.
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams for integrated designs.
• Support redundancy analyses (N, N+1, 2N) for mission critical requirements.
• Conduct site visits, construction administration, and field observations.
• Interact with clients, contractors, and vendors throughout projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and designers on project delivery.

Title: Electrical Engineer-Mission Critical

Location: Overland Park, KS

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to join our Mission Critical practice, supporting the design and delivery of power distribution systems for data centers, healthcare facilities, and other critical infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate combines strong technical design skills in Revit with hands-on expertise in power system studies (short circuit, coordination, arc flash) and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative consulting environment.

What You'll Do

• Design low- and medium-voltage electrical distribution systems for mission critical facilities, including data centers, from concept through construction documents
• Develop and produce electrical construction drawings, one-line diagrams, panel schedules, and specifications using Revit
• Perform power system studies, including short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis, using industry-standard software (e.g., SKM, ETAP)
• Size and specify electrical equipment including switchgear, generators, UPS systems, transformers, and distribution panels
• Coordinate with mechanical, structural, and architectural teams to ensure integrated, constructible designs
• Support redundancy and reliability analysis (N, N+1, 2N configurations) specific to mission critical requirements
• Conduct site visits, construction administration, and field observations as needed
• Interface directly with clients, contractors, and equipment vendors throughout project lifecycles
• Mentor junior engineers and designers as part of project delivery teams
• Ensure designs comply with NEC, NFPA 70E, NFPA 110, local codes, and applicable industry standards
• Bring creative, out-of-the-box thinking to solve complex design challenges unique to mission critical environments, balancing reliability, constructability, and cost

Minimum Criteria

• Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering or Electrical Engineering
• 3+ years of electrical design experience at a consulting engineering firm
• Demonstrated proficiency in Revit for electrical system design and documentation
• Hands-on experience performing power system studies (short circuit, coordination, and/or arc flash analysis)
• Solid understanding of electrical distribution systems for commercial and/or mission critical facilities
• Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA, and other relevant electrical codes and standards
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience specifically on data center or other mission critical projects
• EIT or PE license (or active pursuit of PE licensure)
• Familiarity with SKM Power Tools and/or ETAP
• Experience with generator paralleling systems, UPS topologies, and static transfer switches
• Exposure to commissioning processes for mission critical facilities
• Knowledge of electrical power monitoring systems (EPMS) and controls integration
