Hazen and Sawyer is seeking an electrical engineer to design and supervise electrical systems for water and wastewater facilities. The role includes mentoring junior staff, participating in business development, and potentially serving as project manager on select electrical projects.

The candidate will work with a multidisciplinary team to deliver reliable power distribution, motor control, and instrumentation, while ensuring NEC compliance and high safety standards across projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering.
• 5–10 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial electrical engineering and design.
• AutoCAD experience is a must; Revit BIM, SKM and/or ETAP are desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, generator design, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout and related activities.
• Knowledge of the NEC and related Codes.
• Serve as electrical engineer on projects for water and wastewater facilities.
• Supervision of less experienced staff working on projects, and interaction with clients and engineers from other disciplines.
• Candidate will serve as a technical mentor for less experienced staff in local offices.
• Engage in Business Development activities such as proposal preparation and fee/scope development.
• Fill the role of Project Manager for selected Electrical projects.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
• 5-10 years of relevant experience in heavy industrial Electrical Engineering and Design;
• Prior experience in water/wastewater industry is desirable
• AutoCAD experience is a must, Revit BIM software and SKM and/or ETAP power systems software is desirable.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Electrical Engineering
• Experience with instrumentation and control systems is a plus, including field and panel instruments, operator interfaces, and PLCs.
