Job summary

The Thomas Young Group is seeking an electrical design professional to develop and coordinate electrical systems for a variety of MEP projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.

Responsibilities include planning and designing electrical systems, performing critical calculations, preparing drawings and specs, and conducting site visits to ensure design intent. A strong NEC knowledge base and communication skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer license preferred or actively working toward licensure.
• 3+ years of experience in MEP electrical design.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and electrical analysis tools such as SKM, ETAP, or similar software.
• Strong knowledge of NEC requirements and relevant local regulations.
• Clear communication skills and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Plan and design electrical systems for a range of MEP projects, including power distribution, lighting layouts, and low voltage systems.
• Partner closely with mechanical and plumbing engineers, architects, and contractors to deliver coordinated and code compliant designs.
• Perform technical calculations such as load studies, short circuit analysis, voltage drop calculations, and energy efficiency reviews.
• Prepare detailed construction drawings, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
• Conduct site visits and field inspections to confirm installations align with design intent.
• Stay current with NEC requirements, local codes, and emerging technologies in the industry.
