Type One Energy in Knoxville, TN is seeking an Electrical Engineer - Magnet Power to design, integrate, test, and operate electrical systems for high-field magnet technologies in our stellarator fusion energy system. You will focus on magnet power supplies, energy handling, protection, and instrumentation interfaces, collaborating with magnet, power electronics, controls, cryogenics, and mechanical teams.

Candidates should have a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electrical Engineering or related field

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Applied Physics, or related field.
• 5+ years designing, integrating, testing, or commissioning electrical systems in complex environments.
• Experience with magnet power supplies, high-current/high-voltage systems, or large-scale power conversion equipment.

Responsibilities

• Design, specify, integrate, and support magnet power supply systems for superconducting magnet applications.
• Develop and review requirements for magnet electrical systems including power conversion, grounding, protection, and monitoring.
• Apply energy handling expertise for safe charging, discharge, dump, fault response, and stored-energy management.
