Job summary

AeroVironment in Huntsville, AL is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design, develop, modify and evaluate electronic parts and assemblies for UAV hardware systems, focusing on reliability and sensor integration with embedded processors.

You will drive circuit designs, board layout, and test procedures, collaborating with avionics and RF teams. Travel up to 30% may be required; BS in EE and 5–8 years of experience are needed.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering is required or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years of relevant experience.
• Experienced using Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Experienced in one or more areas: RF, embedded control, FPGA.
• Experienced with power electronics, including motors and Battery Technology (lead acid, Nickel metal hybride & Lithium ion).
• Demonstrated competency in troubleshooting complex systems.
• Knowledge of LVDS, I2C, HDMI, UART, SPI, CAN, USB.
• Some travel may be required (up to 30%).
• Must have a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Performs simulation and detailed design for digital and analog circuits.
• Drives system integration, assembly procedures, and test procedures.
• Documents designs with drawings and descriptions.
• Troubleshoots complex systems from hardware and software perspectives.
• Designs, builds, and tests prototypes expediently and efficiently.
• Works with avionics, embedded systems, and RF links; writes software to support sensor integration.
• Designs and implements circuit boards from architecture to board bring-up.
• Performs design and analysis tasks and writes fabrication and test procedures.
• Works on problems with data-driven analysis and identified factors.
• Follows standard practices to analyze situations and data.
