Newport News Shipbuilding is seeking a strong engineering professional to support the SSNA program for fast attack submarines. You will design electrical and combat systems and collaborate with UK/Australia teams to integrate complex requirements.

The role requires a relevant engineering degree (ABET-accredited) and experience across design, interfaces, and system integration. Travel and on-site collaboration with shipyards are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering from ABET-accredited program.
  • 5 years of relevant exempt experience.
  • Master’s Degree with 3 years of relevant professional experience.
  • Ph.D. with 0 years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with shipyards, customers and stakeholders to collect feedback for design incorporation.
  • Work with multi-discipline teams on SSNA design principles.
  • Solve complex spatial integration issues while meeting system and ship requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with internal leadership and external customers.
  • Design and develop electrical and combat systems.
  • Establish system and sub-system design requirements based on top level requirements.
  • Manage system interfaces.
  • Identify and develop components and sub-systems to ensure requirements are met.
