Job summary

EDG Inc. in Metairie seeks an Electrical Engineer III to develop and implement electrical design requirements for projects in the oil & gas sector.

You will coordinate with other disciplines to ensure an integrated design that meets client specifications and industry standards. The role requires knowledge of power generation, distribution, protection, and control systems, plus experience modeling with ETAP/EDSA/SKM and traveling to client sites or offshore locations as needed.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Electrical or Electronics engineering is required or preferred.
• 5+ years of experience designing and implementing electrical power generation and distribution systems in oil and gas contexts.
• P.E. license is preferred.
• Experience leading multi-discipline project teams and estimating project costs.
• Experience preparing specifications for procurement, construction, testing and commissioning of electrical systems.
• Knowledge of ANSI/NEMA/NFPA/API/UL/IEEE codes and standards; IEC knowledge is a plus.
• Ability to travel offshore and to client sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design teams for power generation, distribution, protection and control systems.
• Prepare and review power/controls philosophies and drawings.
• Review equipment specifications and datasheets for electrical systems.
• Develop and review electrical models using ETAP, EDSA or SKM.
• Prepare and review electrical load lists, distribution systems and cabling plans.
• Coordinate with other disciplines to ensure integrated design.
• Support procurement, construction, testing and commissioning activities.
