Job summary

Daikin Applied Americas is seeking an Electrical Engineer III to design and develop electrical power and control systems for HVAC chillers, including VFD-driven PM motors and dedicated medium-voltage power supplies.

The role is based in Plymouth, MN, on-site, with travel as needed and collaboration with global partners. A Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering is required along with 7+ years of relevant experience in power electronics and control systems, with a preference for a Master's degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Electrical Engineering required.
• 7+ years in electrical engineering with power electronics, power distribution, VFDs, motor drives and control systems.
• Willing to engage with cross-functional teams and global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Plan and manage engineering activities, deliverables, and project schedules.
• Develop specifications for electrical/electronic systems in chiller products.
• Lead test planning, qualification activities, and performance evaluations.
• Analyze test data and drive design improvements to meet product requirements.
• Provide technical leadership during product development and reviews.
• Lead cross-functional teams to drive project execution and resolve technical challenges.
• Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for quality and reliability issues.
• Lead the design, integration, and validation of electrical subsystems for chiller platforms.
• Develop and oversee test equipment, procedures, and acceptance criteria.
• Support installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement in lab and field environments.
