Job summary

Daikin Applied is seeking a Controls Engineer II – Hardware/Electrical in Plymouth, MN for a hybrid work setup. You will design, develop, and validate embedded hardware and electrical control systems for commercial HVAC equipment, including sensors, I/O, and peripherals.

You will collaborate with teams across firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing to ensure robust, cost-effective solutions. The role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field, 4+ years in embedded

Qualifications

  • Design, develop, and validate embedded hardware and electrical control systems for HVAC equipment.
  • Experience with analog/digital circuit design, power supplies, and microcontrollers.
  • Experience with schematics, PCB design, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Collaborative cross-functional development across firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams.
  • Capability to perform hardware verification, environmental and reliability testing.
  • Familiarity with sensors and instrumentation used in HVAC systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and validate embedded hardware and electrical control systems for commercial HVAC equipment.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, PCB designs, BOMs, and docs.
  • Support hardware verification testing and analyze results to drive improvements.
  • Collaborate with firmware, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams throughout development.
  • Provide technical support during product launches and sustaining engineering activities.
  • Assist with EMC/EMI, electrical safety, and regulatory testing activities.
