Job summary

Invenergy, LLC is seeking an Electrical Engineer 2 in Chicago to support protection and control for renewable assets, substations, and gen tie facilities. You will work on protective relays, event analysis, relay settings, coordination, and protection schemes for inverter-based resources across wind, solar, and storage projects.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or similar major required; 2–4 years of experience in protection & control, power systems, substations, or renewable energy applications
• Experience with SEL products/tools is preferred
• Strong oral and written communication skills required
• Some travel (<25%) is required
• Eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future

Responsibilities

• Support protection & control systems across high voltage substations, collection systems, and renewable plants; assist with outage investigations and reliability improvements
• Maintain and support Invenergy’s relay settings database
• Develop and implement best practices for relay settings management and updates
• Assist in regulatory and compliance for PRC-028/029/030 related to protection systems
• Support NERC PRC standards compliance and coordination with multiple teams
• Review equipment maintenance and testing reports for alignment with standards and policies
• Support cross-functional initiatives, fleet-wide procedures, and vendor/consultant onboarding
• Contribute to protection philosophies, relay settings, and coordination strategies
