Thorlabs is seeking an Electrical Engineer II to design, prototype, and validate advanced electronics for imaging and instrumentation systems in a fast-paced R&D environment.

The role emphasizes hands-on development from concept through production, requiring strong analog/digital/mixed-signal skills and experience with embedded firmware in C/C++. Collaboration with cross-functional teams and vendors is essential.

Qualifications

• Hands-on R&D experience designing electronic hardware for instrumentation.
• Experience developing electrical products from concept to production.
• Experience with analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuits.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop electronic hardware for precision scientific instruments and imaging systems.
• Develop embedded firmware in C/C++ for hardware bring-up and control.
• Own designs from requirements through PCB layout and production release.
• Create test fixtures and validation procedures for manufacturing.
• Prepare BOMs, schematics, PCB files, drawings, and test procedures.
• Collaborate with mechanical, optical, software, firmware, manufacturing and sales teams.
• Support transfer to manufacturing focusing on DFM and testability.
