Job summary

Newcomb & Boyd, LLP seeks an Engineer II for our Atlanta office to independently execute engineering tasks, manage project components, and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.

Under minimal supervision, this role leads design, analysis, and implementation of MEP-T systems for small to medium projects and represents the firm to clients within that scope.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, or Communications Engineering.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in the AEC industry.
  • Licensure preferred (EIT, PE, CPD, FPE, RCDD, etc.).
  • Proficiency in Revit and discipline-specific software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of discipline-specific systems for small to medium projects using Revit and modeling/calculation tools.
  • Assist senior engineers with complex designs, plans, and calculations.
  • Perform calculations and simulations.
  • Review product submittals and shop drawings.
  • Respond to RFIs for assigned scope.
  • Conduct site visits and prepare reports.
  • Prepare technical documentation and participate in project meetings.
  • Ensure project delivery within agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Comply with QA/QC procedures and assist in developing project workplans.

Engineer II independently executes engineering tasks, manages components of projects, and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams. Qualifications
Education & Licensure

Experience
  • 3+ years of engineering experience in the AEC industry.
Technical Skills
  • Proficient in Revit and discipline-specific software.
  • Strong grasp of building codes and design standards.
Leadership & Management Skills
  • Capable of guiding junior staff and leading internal reviews.
  • Able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
Communication & Business Skills
  • Skilled in preparing reports, proposals, and client communications.
  • Comfortable representing the firm to clients for smaller projects.
Success Measures (SMART)
Supervisory Responsibility

No direct reports but may mentor junior engineers or interns.

Work Environment

Office-based with regular site visits; must adhere to safety requirements.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit/stand for long periods, use standard office equipment, and occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs. Site visits may involve ladders, uneven terrain, and varied weather.
