Job summary

The EPTA GROUP in Columbus, GA is seeking an Electrical Engineer II – Design Engineer to lead electrical design for refrigerated systems, including power distribution, control boards, and PLC logic. You will coordinate cross-functional teams from concept through production and ensure manufacturability and reliability. You should have a B.S.

in Electrical/Electronic Engineering with 5+ years of experience or an M.S. with 3+ years, plus strong CAD skills and knowledge of UL, ASHRAE standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering required.
  • Understanding of engineering science and technology in practice.
  • Ability to work well with others both in and outside the department.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Excel, AutoCAD, PowerPoint, Word, and Access.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for precision drawings and BOMs.
  • Knowledge of simple controls and ladder logic.
  • Knowledge of basic power distribution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Sense of ownership and urgency; project management experience.
  • Understanding UL requirements.
  • Experience with programmable logic control.
  • Understanding basic refrigeration a plus.
  • Basic SAP knowledge a plus.
  • Experience automating processes in Excel or programming language a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate project designs through cross-functional approval and change implementation from concept to production.
  • Coordinate efforts of drafters/designers, engineering technicians and shop personnel as required by projects.
  • Design and redesign products to improve performance, reduce costs, and meet regulatory requirements (UL, ASHRAE).
  • Design products for Manufacturability, Assembly and Reliability.
  • Coordinate design requirements with designers and drafters.
  • Check other engineers’ work for errors and improvements.

ELECTRICAL ENGINEER II – Design Engineer, Columbus, GA

This engineer is responsible for the electrical design of refrigerated systems, including power distribution, control boards and PLC logic.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Project coordination responsibility of taking designs through the cross functional approval and change implementation from concept to production.
  • Coordinate the efforts of drafters/designers, engineering technicians and machine shop personnel as required by assigned projects.
  • Design and/or redesign products to develop new products, improve performance, and/or reduce costs while meeting regulatory requirements (UL, ASHRAE).
  • Design products for Manufacturability, Assembly and Reliability.
  • Coordinate design requirements with designers and drafters.
  • Check other engineers’ work for errors and improvements.
SKILLS
  • Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Understanding of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
  • Able to work well with others both in and outside of the department.
  • Possess good working knowledge of the following software: MS-Excel, AutoCAD, MS-PowerPoint, MS-Word, and MS-Access a plus.
  • Requires knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and Bills of Material.
  • Requires knowledge on how to apply simple controls and ladder logic.
  • Requires knowledge of basic power distribution.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills.
  • Sense of ownership and urgency with projects and work assignments.
  • Project management experience.
  • Understanding of UL requirements.
  • Experience working with programmable logic control.
  • Understanding basic refrigeration a plus.
  • Basic working knowledge of the SAP environment a plus.
  • Experience automating processes in Excel or some programming language a plus.
EXPERIENCE
  • Electrical / Electronic Engineering degree (bachelor’s with 5+ year experience or master’s with 3+ year experience)
TRAVEL
  • Employee should expect 5-15% travel. Could be as much as four site visits per year.
